Michael Waters

FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT OF PHASE 1 SPORTS

NASM CPT, PES, NUTRITION ADVISOR, MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER & PUBLISHED WRITER

Michael Waters has built a name within the sports and fitness industry through his entrepreneurship innovative approach to performance training and exceptional sports marketing skills. Waters has been the principal owner of Phase 1 Sports since its inception 15 years ago. His leadership has played a major role in the success and advancement of hundreds of athletes spanning all ages and sports, from youth to professional leagues.

An active participant in the Clark County School District PAYBAC program, Stay in School mentoring project, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization, Waters is also a co-founder of the Phase 1 Foundation, a non-profit organization that uses sports as a channel to motivate and inspire at-risk youth.

Julian Portugal

PHASE 1 TRAINER

CERTIFIED STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH

Julian Portugal is currently the Assistant/Strength and Conditioning at the College of Southern Nevada Men's Soccer Program (CSN). Portugal also serves as an Assistant/Strength and Conditioning Coach with the Las Vegas Mobsters of the UPSL. Early in his career, Portugal played with professional youth academies Pachuca FC, Atlante FC, and Zacatepec FC in Mexico. In college, Portugal played at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV). He was named All-Conference First Team player, Top-100 Freshman, and helped UNLV win the 2014 Western Athletic Conference (WAC). Furthermore, Portugal went on to play professionally with Tulsa Roughnecks of the United Soccer League (USL).

Jason Eng

DIRECTOR OF SOCCER OPERATIONS

NASM CPT

Eng currently plays for UNLV Men's Soccer Team. He has represented Nevada through all levels of ODP (Olympic Development Program) at the state, regional, and national team levels. He captained Real Salt Lake's U16 National Championship team in 2013, helping the program become the #1 ranked youth academy in the US. He also played for LA Galaxy U18sin 2014. In 2014-15 Eng played for Hong Kong Rangers FC in the Hong Kong Premier League. In his first college season Eng won the 2016 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championship with UNLV.
